Toko’s Baltic Amber is fossilized tree resin that oozed its way out of a forest of conifers between 23 and 50 million years ago. It can contain moss, pine needles, lichen or even insects, and each piece is unique.
An ancient theory has it that the golden rays of the setting sun were captured by the sea, and then cast ashore in the form of amber. Chunks of amber can still be collected by the Baltic Sea and along the shores of East Anglia after it has washed across the North Sea.
While the sunset gold colour is the most usual, other colours were formed to include green, cherry red, milky-white and even black amber.
Set with a polished oval shaped stone of green amber, the gem is encased within a sterling silver mount with a flash of silver across the front.
Chain is rhodium coated to prevent tarnish.
